Whitby fish and chip empire invests £500k to serve 'future growth' of the business

A family-run fish and chip business is investing £500k in a new processing facility to streamline its operation across the East Coast.

Fusco’s of Whitby is building a two-storey unit at Whitby Business Park after receiving planning permission from North York Moors National Park Authority.

The new facility will be used for the preparation and processing of fish and potatoes as well as providing Fusco’s with offices and storage space.

Fusco’s of Whitby owns the Quayside restaurant in the town as well as Royal Fisheries.

The business also runs two Fish Box takeaway shops – in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay – and operates The Whitby Fish and Chips Catering Trailer.

When acquiring the site for the new processing facility, Fusco’s of Whitby was advised by York-based Langleys Solicitors.

Adrian Fusco, commercial director at Fusco’s, said: “By streamlining our back-of- house facilities, we will be able to better organise our stock, processing and preparation and be more efficient in catering for our shops and restaurants.

“The new unit will also facilitate any future growth of the business.”

Emma Warner, partner in commercial property at Langleys Solicitors, added: “Fusco’s is a well-established and successful Yorkshire business. We are very pleased to support the Fusco family as they continue to seek expansion on the East Coast.”
