Former Post Office head takes over as One4all UK's managing director

The Post Office’s former head of payments and banking, Alan Smith, has been appointed as managing director for One4all UK.

The multi-retailer gift card, which is stocked at various Post Offices across the country, will be led by Smith in its latest stage of growth.

With over 20 years of experience working in the payments industry and having spent almost five years working as head of payments and banking for the Post Office, he is now suitably responsible to continue with One4all’s sales surge of 23 per cent in 2016.

Commenting on his success, Smith said: “I’m delighted to be joining the One4all team. Having been responsible for prepaid and gift cards during my time at the Post Office, I am already familiar with One4all Gift Cards - and the product’s strengths and future potential.”

It has been said that Smith will emphasise the development of the company’s digital presence and online sales channels, as the company hopes to strengthen those areas.

In the past, Smith has guided various other businesses within the payments and banking sector, having worked with the management team who launched Accertify in Europe, following its acquisition by Amex.

He continued: “One4all’s profile and sales continue to soar here in the UK. I am looking forward to ensuring its continued success and growth, and to building upon its established position as the UK’s leading multi-retailer gift card.

“There is still so much more scope to grow this area further to meet the rapidly rising demand we are seeing from customers.”

Smith also remains an ambassador for the Emerging Payments Association, a community for payments industry professionals from private payments companies in the UK.

One4all’s CEO and founder, Michael Dawson, said: “With over 20 years’ experience, Alan lives and breathes the payments industry, and we are especially thrilled to be inviting someone who is already familiar with our business into the senior management team.”

One4all gift cards are currently accepted in store and online at more than 50,000 outlets across the country, and can be loaded with money ranging from £10 to £400.
