A Good Innings for Europa at Aston CC

Leading national logistics provider, Europa Worldwide Group, has chosen to support local Sheffield side, Aston Hall Cricket Club.

The nationwide company, which has a site at Calder Park in Wakefield, has forged a partnership with the club through its Financial Director, Robert Ross’s proud position as Captain of the 2nd XI, a team which plays in Division one of the South Yorkshire League. The 34-year-old from Firbeck in Rotherham has played for the side for the past seven years and was keen to introduce Europa as sponsors of the club for the 2017 cricket season.

Robert said: “Aston Hall is a club that’s close to my heart and after many years of playing for the side, I wanted to give something back. I’ve worked at Europa for almost two years and the company’s commitment to supporting community charities and organisations is in its DNA. My local cricket club was a great fit for us.”

The cricket club, which has been established in Aston for more than 133 years, is a pillar of the local community, coaching children up the age of nine right up to the 1st XI, which plays in the South Yorkshire Premier League.

Robert continued: “I’m thrilled that Europa is able to provide vital funds to help with things such as kit, fixtures and our club house through its sponsorship this year, helping to keep a club which is so important to our local community running smoothly. It’s great to see our Europa board on the boundary edge!”

Aston Hall Cricket Club’s 1st XI Captain, Rob Ward, said “Gaining sponsorship is vital for the club and we are really grateful to Europa for coming on board this year. The club is at the heart of the local community and it is great that a large, national company supports local causes.”

As well as this sponsorship, Europa, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has pledged to match fund its employees’ fundraising efforts for multiple charities to the tune of £25,000, as part of its 50:50 campaign.
