Shopping centre undergoes complete car park overhaul
The Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley has successfully completed a full car park renovation, complementing the centre’s vibrant retail offer and providing a safe and clean environment to park.
The centre owners, clients of CAPREON, have invested a huge £340,000 in the total revamp of the car parking facility which includes concrete repairs, relining of the floors, and full redecoration on all levels. The renovation completes the half a million-pound investment into the multi storey car park over the last 2 years following the recent introduction of a new pay on foot system for the car park last year, incorporating contactless, chip & pin services, and the installation of a new energy efficient LED lighting system.
For over ten years, the Alhambra has been part of the Safer Parking Award Scheme, a police initiative that aims to reduce crime and the fear of crime from car parks. The scheme has approximately 5,000 car parks implementing these standards throughout the country.
Phil Taylor, the British Parking Association North Eastern Area Manager for the Scheme, said: “The Alhambra Shopping Centre was first awarded Safer Parking Status over ten years ago. Since that time, I have seen ongoing improvements in standards within the car park.
“The car park is always clean and tidy, and these together with exemplary management practices ensure it is safe and offers a great experience for the thousands of customers/visitors to the shopping centre.
“The management are dedicated to making the car parking experience a pleasure for every customer and this car park is equal to any facility I have on the Safer Parking Scheme in the North East.”
John Tarrant, Alhambra Centre Manager said: “We are delighted with the car park refurb, which not only makes it easier for our customers to shop with us, but also provides a safe and clean environment for our visitors.”
