MANCHESTER LAW FIRM GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR LOCAL HOMELESS CHARITY
The Booth Centre in Manchester received a bumper donation from local law firm, berg, last week, after the firm joined forces with business development organisation pro-manchester to raise funds through one of its flagship events.
The firm selected the centre as its chosen charity for the second year running, in an effort to help rebuild the lives of homeless people living in the city of Manchester.
Alongside the fund raising at pro-manchester’s annual dinner, berg staff have also held dress down days, bake sales and social events as part of the initiative. Many took part in the Great Manchester Run, running ten kilometres for the cause.
pro-manchester is the largest business development organisation in Greater Manchester and the North West, hosting a range of businesses, networking and fundraising events annually.
The Booth Centre was established to bring about positive change in the lives of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, as well as helping them to plan for a better future.
The organisation provides advice around finding accommodation, education, training and helping to secure employment, free healthy meals, creative activities and more.
Amy Hinks, Development Manager at The Booth Centre, said: “We have been delighted with the involvement and support of everyone at berg this year. The team have all been so enthusiastic about getting involved with the work of the Booth Centre and doing something positive to make a difference for the homeless people in our community.
“The funds raised by berg and pro-manchester will go towards helping homeless people rebuild their lives, move off the streets and realise a more positive future”
Alison Loveday, Chief Executive of berg said: “Homelessness is a very real problem here in Manchester and something most of us come face to face with every day, it can be difficult to see a way to help which is why organisations like the Booth Centre are so incredibly important, we have been delighted to have been involved in fundraising for such a worthy cause”
Berg recently announced a merger with international practice, Kennedys, and will soon move from its Peter Street premises to its new residence on Oxford Street.
