Heritage clothing brand eyes further international expansion with Tokyo and Toronto openings
London-headquartered clothing brand Belstaff is launching its fifth retail space in Japan along with a new unit in Toronto as part of its continued push overseas.
The new Tokyo space will be housed within department store Hankyu Men’s Tokyo branch and follows the opening of retail spaces at the Ginza Six complex as well as Matsuzakaya Nagoya, Isetan Shinjuku Men’s and a standalone store in Kobe.
The brand opened its Japanese business 18 months ago as part of a ‘strong commitment’ to country amid continued expansion globally.
Nearly 6,500 miles west of Tokyo, the brand is also planning to open its first standalone space in Canada following strong sales growth in the country with a pop-up venue at Yorkville Village in Toronto.
Opening on Friday 1 September, the retail space will showcase the heritage clothing brand’s full menswear range as well as its new brand identity.
Gavin Haig, Belstaff’s chief executive said: “Belstaff expands from west to east, with two new stores opening within the next month, in Toronto and in Ginza, Tokyo.
“With a first store in Canada, a country renowned for great outerwear and already a fifth store in 18 months in Japan, a market where we know the customer appreciates high quality and brands with authentic heritage, shows our dedication to both markets.
“Both openings represent the further strengthening of the roll out of our strategy.”
