Liverpool Airport forecasts busiest August Bank Hol weekend since 2011
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has forecast the coming weekend to be the busiest of the year as thousands prepare to jet off on holiday.
The airport is expecting to see nearly 70k passengers step through its terminals over the August Bank Holiday weekend, a year-on-year increase of 5%.
If achieved, the figure will make this weekend the busiest for the Airport since 2011.
European destinations such as Rome, Milan, Prague, Berlin and Budapest are expected to be popular among those opting for short city breaks.
LJLA’s head of PR, Robin Tudor, said: “August Bank Holiday weekend is always our busiest time and this year with many people so fed up of the miserable Summer weather here at home, we expect even more passengers will take advantage of the great choice of flights and the convenience of flying from Liverpool to a host of destinations a lot warmer than here in the UK.”
Last month, LJLA welcomed the opening of an 893 sq ft Dixons Travel store on the lower floor of its Departure Lounge.
