Businesses in Westminster could soon benefit from cut-price gigabit broadband
A new scheme by Westminster City Council could see businesses in the borough benefit from reduced price full-fibre broadband through local provider Hyperoptic.
The West London-based broadband provider has become a registered partner of the council’s Connect Westminster Scheme which looks to extend access to ultrafast gigabit broadband to as many of the borough’s businesses as possible.
It comes after Westminster Council received £2.8m from the European Regional Development Fund to help support the initiative which could benefit businesses in Westminster and the West End Partnership area.
As one of the first partners on the scheme, Hyperoptic, which is currently the UK’s largest residential gigabit broadband provider, will be able to offer businesses with broadband connections at significantly cheaper rates with the potential for £2,000 to be put towards their connection cost via the scheme.
Hyperoptic have also announced that they will be offering their business customers a 50% discount for their first year.
Darren Shenkin, director business development, Hyperoptic, said: “Full fibre connectivity revolutionises the way a business can operate – it needs to be experienced to be believed and schemes like this are invaluable to increase awareness and adoption of hyperfast broadband services.
“In advance of this scheme launching we are significantly investing in and expanding our full fibre network across the district so businesses can reap the benefits of this scheme as fast as possible.”
