Miller Homes to create 140 North East jobs amid new housing plans
Housebuilder Miller Homes has revealed plans to begin building 584 new homes in the North East next year, creating over 140 new direct and indirect jobs in the process.
Set to be built over the next six years, Miller Homes is actively aiming to increase its presence across the region and has pinpointed three key sites as the driver for this activity.
New homes will be created in areas such as Hadston Road in Hadston, located next to Miller Homes’ former Beachcroft development; Victoria Road West in Hebburn; and Brookfield Phase 2 in Acklam.
To oversee the task, the firm has promoted Patrick Arkle to regional managing director.
With 28 years’ experience in the housebuilding industry, Patrick Arkle has been promoted from operations director to regional managing director in recognition of his efforts in driving forward growth in the region.
During his time as operations director, Miller Homes has experienced great success in the region and over the coming months a number of new sites will be added to its current portfolio of 10 North East developments.
Miller Homes has also recently launched three new developments in Bedlington, Cramlington and Middleton St George, whilst making a number of additional key promotions amongst its senior management team in the North East. Associate directors Mark Bayliss and Andrew Finnigan have been promoted to technical and commercial directors respectively.
Steve Birch, area managing director in charge of Miller Homes’ across the North of England, said: “The start of 2017 has been an extremely busy time for Miller Homes in the North East, both in terms of building new homes, reservations and the purchasing of new land, and we are pleased to announce Patrick, Mark and Andrew’s promotions.
“Patrick has been instrumental in driving forward our recent growth and success in the region and as he continues to support the expansion of the business, he is focussed on developing and enhancing the team through internal promotions and new appointments as well as creating opportunities for apprentices.”
With plans to complete nearly 400 homes in 2017 at its new and existing developments, Miller Homes in the North East has seen a strong start to the year with over 80% of its released plots already reserved. By 2019 the housebuilder plans to be building 600 new homes per year.
