Work complete on £3m transformation of Liverpool Airport’s Departure Lounge
The latest phase in a multi-million pound project to improve facilities for passengers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) is now complete.
LJLA invested close to £3m over the last nine months to transform its Departure Lounge, welcoming new shops and upgrading over 21,500 sq ft of the area’s upper level.
High street retailers Dixons and Accessorize opened stores in the Departure Lounge, while the leisure offer expanded with the launch of the Cabin Bar, Beer House and coffee shop Ritazza.
Other improvements included new stores for existing retailers; new seating, lighting and washroom facilities; and the introduction of large flight information screens.
After the Summer season LJLA will begin the next phase of improvements, which will see it invest a further £2m to expand and redesign the World Duty Free shop.
The airport’s commercial director, Lucy O’Shaughnessy, said: “Previous investments in a number of passenger facilities at the Airport have seen our customer satisfaction levels reach an all-time high.
“We believe these latest improvements have created a real ‘wow factor’ for passengers as we welcome them into the Departure Lounge, building on existing positive passenger feedback and further enhancing the customer experience.”
