Small Plates Stash: York Restaurant Dishes Out Free Meals

A collection of small plates have been hidden around the city of York, offering eagle-eyed finders a meal for four at one of the city’s most stylist new dining spots: The Rise.

A total of 20 plates have been hidden across the city, and those lucky enough to find one will win a free meal for four at the new restaurant situated at The Grand Hotel & Spa, Yorkshire’s only five-star hotel.

The Rise will be teasing clues as to the plate’s locations via social media, and those that find the plates need only snap a picture of themselves holding the trophy and tweet it to @TheRise_York or post it on The Rise Restaurant, Terrace, and Bar Facebook Page using #SmallPlatesStash to claim their prize. Winners can then take the plate away with them, and contact The Rise to arrange claiming their prize.

The Rise is the latest venture from The Grand Hotel & Spa and is a vibrant all-day dining destination headed up by award-winning chef Craig Atchinson. The team have created a modern menu boasting a selection of seasonal small plates from fried duck egg with wild mushrooms, spinach, and truffle dressing to prime fillet steak tartare with sourdough and horseradish emulsion, as well as larger dishes for the hungrier diner such as North Atlantic cod with Yorkshire chorizo and butter bean ragout.

The menu also includes junior options, sweet plates and cheeses, plus a breakfast offering and a modern take on the classic Afternoon Tea. Diners can enjoy local beers and ales, hand-selected wines, signature cocktails, plus live music on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The small plates will be hidden across York throughout August and early September.
