New associate director joins engineering consultancy Caulmert

A fast-growing engineering, planning and environmental consultancy has appointed a new associate director to its structures department.

Peter Dawson has joined the employee-owned firm’s Altrincham team as associate director of structures to help continue Caulmert’s expansion.

And the 46 year old brings 23 years’ engineering experience with him after working on the delivery of projects in a variety of sectors including nuclear, chemical, waste-to-energy, and rail.

Peter has led design teams on major projects including a £6m train station development, a £65m thermal power station, and various multi-storey builds in Manchester’s Spinningfields centre.

He graduated from Birmingham University in 1993, going on to work for a number of major engineering consultancies as well as earning chartered status from the Institution of Structural Engineers in 2001.

Peter said: “I’m excited to be joining the Caulmert team and being given the chance to work on some really interesting projects.

“The business is very ambitious and has set specific goals which I’m eager to help reach, all whilst producing high quality results for clients.

“I’m joining an expert team that offers an impressive breadth of services which will be vital for our future growth.”

Mike Caulfield, managing director and founder of Caulmert added: “Peter’s experience and skills are highly valuable, so I’m pleased he’s agreed to join us.

“His in-depth knowledge of the industry makes him an asset to his new team and indeed the wider company.”

Founded in 2009, Caulmert is on track to meet an ambitious 15-year growth plan that would see it employ 250 people by 2024. In addition to Altrincham, it also has offices in Bangor, Nottingham, and St Asaph.

The firm, whose projects span the UK, from the Hebrides to the Isle of Wight, counts among its clients Willmott Dixon, Stoke City FC, Wynne Construction, TGI Fridays, Viridor, and Airbus.

Its expertise in a variety of planning, environmental and engineering projects is supported by the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes and modelling to meet PAS1192 level 2.
