Entrepreneurs launch £20k Kickstarter for phone gadget that could ‘redefine the market’
Two Liverpool entrepreneurs are preparing to launch a new mobile phone gadget to “redefine the market” with a five-figure crowdfunding campaign.
Father and son duo Ed and Tom Green spent the last two years refining, testing and developing the Magphone, a phone dock that uses super-strong Neodymium magnets to hold a handset in place.
The pair have now turned to Kickstarter with a target of raising £20k to bring the product to market.
Magphone works by placing a metallic plate between a mobile and its case, enabling it to be held on a dock offering 360-degree rotation and microsuction for fixing onto horizontal surfaces.
For use in vehicles, the Magphone device is anchored by the detachable Magdisc, which is around the size of a £2 coin.
The Magphone
Tom said: “Good and bad, there are plenty of phone holders on the market that can be used within vehicles, but, we believe, nothing with the versatility of Magphone.
“It’s the only one that can be used pretty much anywhere… home, work or even on the go.”
He added: “With a focus on performance, quality and aesthetic beauty we believe it’s ready to redefine the market.”
