Do you think a ‘Yorkshire One’ devolution deal is possible? Have your say in our new series
As devolution has once again become the current hot topic in Yorkshire, Bdaily is now going to put a spotlight on the progress of the proposed ‘One Yorkshire’ devolution deal.
Ever since the agreed £900m devolution deal for the Sheffield City Region (SCR) was postponed, there has been a question mark as to when, or if ever, a deal will be struck to see our region’s local authorities gain powers devolved from the government.
As the North of England is still driving towards the idea of creating a Northern Powerhouse, and with Yorkshire being the UK’s largest county - boasting an economic impact of around £88bn - I believe that striking a devolution deal would be a major step forward in realising the potential of the region’s economy.
Therefore throughout Autumn Bdaily is setting out to discover the full impact of devolving powers to the region, when a deal will actually be agreed and what the business community really thinks of a Yorkshire-wide deal.
