intu Metrocentre makes Melanie's day
After spending four years suffering health battles and being confined to her bed, Melanie Hartshorn from Cramlington has enjoyed a celebratory pamper day thanks to intu Metrocentre.
Melanie, 27, a Newcastle University graduate, suffered for years from a severe form of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) which meant the slightest movement could trigger multiple dislocations and leave her in agony.
After undergoing two pioneering operations in Barcelona, Melanie is now able to look forward to a new life, and is delighted with the progress she is making.
Following an invitation from intu Metrocentre, Melanie enjoyed a fun afternoon that included a makeover at MAC, House of Fraser, before splashing out on a new outfit for her birthday at New Look, and rounding off her day with dinner at Nando’s alongside her friend Josh Spencer.
Melanie said:
“I t was a really good day out, Clare from intu Metrocentre contacted me and said they’d like to treat me to a VIP day. I’m very grateful – thanks to everyone!”
Clare Canon, community manager at intu, added:
“When I first heard about Melanie’s debilitating condition, I was humbled by her strength, determination and cheery disposition despite everything she was going through. The success of this operation is truly amazing, and it’s fantastic to see Melanie looking forward to an exciting new life where she can fulfil her dreams. It’s been our absolute pleasure having her as our guest.”
