Doncaster contractor secures work on 2.2m sq ft Amazon Mega Shed project
Mech FS, the Doncaster-based mechanical and electrical contractor, has secured a contract to work on the forthcoming Amazon Mega Shed project in Bristol.
The firm, which employs 105 people and has offices in Doncaster, Birmingham and Sheffield, will be providing a full mechanical and electrical install for the project, using its own in-house 3D design technology capabilities.
The 2.2m sq ft multi-storey Mega Shed is set to be built at Severnside Distribution Land’s logistics development at Central Park in Avonmouth.
This is the first build Amazon has self-developed, taking the retailer’s number of UK fulfilment centres to 16.
The project win follows Mech FS’s recent completion of a multi storey 1.2m sq ft warehouse for Amazon in Warrington.
Paul Sutherland, chief executive of Mech FS, said: “To be chosen as the mechanical and engineering partner for Amazon by the construction company ISG, on the first distribution centre they have self-developed is a fantastic coup for our company.
“It’s testimony to the great work of our delivery team in Warrington who worked on a major project for Amazon recently and is a real credit to our design team based in Sheffield and Doncaster.
“We are making great strides with our in-house 3d technology capabilities at present and we couldn’t ask for a bigger and better project to demonstrate our expertise on.”
Founded in 2007, MechFS specialises in providing tailored mechanical and electrical engineered solutions for a wide range of sectors including retail, distribution, public sector and commercial.
