PARTNERSHIP PRESENTS DEVELOPMENT PLANS TO SIR EDWARD LISTER

Sir Edward Lister, Chairman of the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) visited Hull yesterday (11 September) to mark the launch of a £120 million regeneration scheme in North Hull. On-site work has commenced at Wawne View, a residential development that will be delivered by Keepmoat Homes, Keepmoat Regeneration, Home Group (under its new sales brand, Persona), Strata and Priority Space, in partnership with Hull City Council.

The consortium’s investment in the mixed-tenure scheme has been further supported by the HCA’s Affordable Housing Programme. As such, the phase of the wider development plan will see the creation of 750 high specification homes that will be available for both outright sale, shared ownership and affordable rent, catering for a diverse local community.

To support the new community of homes, there will be significant investment in the local infrastructure and educational provision, creating improved road networks and additional school places. Green spaces, pedestrianised areas and new bus routes also play a key role in the plans, and the project will boost employment opportunities, with many new jobs and some 300 apprenticeships being created.

Sir Edward, who has a considerable background in facilitating large-scale urban regeneration schemes said: “The Wawne Road scheme in Hull is the result of a strong collaborative approach between all in the partnership and it brings together local expertise and national approaches to housing and development. “This has enabled innovation and driven regeneration in this part of the City and it is great to see that the Homes and Communities Agency have helped Home Group and Hull City Council build 750 new homes”

Cllr John Black, Hull City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing said: “Building new homes is not just about bricks and mortar. It’s about building sustainable neighbourhoods where people want to live and work and our plans for Wawne View will go a long way towards achieving this in the north of the city. Building new communities brings new jobs and training opportunities, brand new facilities that complement those in the local area, as well as quality affordable homes for rent and buy.”
