PowerON shortlisted for prestigious business award

PowerON is delighted to have been shortlisted for a prestigious business award.

Shortlisted in the Small Business of the Year category of The York Press Business Awards 2017, PowerON, which has recently expanded into new offices in the City, saw off competition from hundreds of entrants to make the cut.

The Press Business Awards are now in their 27th year and a core panel of judges whittled down the extensive list of entries to just three contenders in each of the ten categories.

The Press business editor Laura Knowlson said: “The entries to our Business Awards always give us a great indication of the state of the local economy and the confidence amongst businesses within it.

“We saw a host of exceptional entries and judging some of the categories proved very difficult for our panel – especially the Large Business of the Year and the Small Business of the Year categories, which were particularly popular.”

Phil Mercer, Solutions and Services Director, from PowerON says: “We have grown our turnover from £128,000 in 2015 and we’re on target to hit £2 million during this financial year, following notable contract wins in both the public and private sectors. In those three years since we started the business, we have also grown staff numbers from just four people to 30. As a result, we have recently expanded into new headquarters at Stanley Harrison House to accommodate our vast growth and service our regional and national accounts.”

PowerON provides powerful, high quality IT management and cloud automation solutions to organisations of all sizes, and has been shortlisted with Ainsty Ales and Cuffs & Co for the title of Small Business of the Year.

Phil adds: “It’s been a successful and fast paced three years since our launch and it’s a real honour to be recognised for our efforts with this award shortlisting. We plan to continue growing at pace, as we strive to remove the complexity and excessive costs often associated with the management and implementation of IT Solutions – so it’s a really exciting time for our business.”

The winners will be announced at an awards night, which will see around 400 guests gather at York Racecourse on Thursday November 23. BBC broadcaster Colin Hazelden will be the Master of Ceremonies for the event.
