COLLABORATION BRINGS TSG/PIPE REPAIR WITH SPS TO MARKET
TSG Marine and SPS, are delighted to announce a new product - TSG/Pipe Repair with SPS – a permanent class approved alternative to conventional ‘crop and replace’ pipework and tubular product renewal, undertaken whilst the pipe is in-service.
TSG/Pipe Repair with SPS, a no hot works bolted solution, designed and tested by TSG Marine and SPS has been verified by DNV GL under international standards.
A SPS structural composite is formed by bonding a new outer pipe to the existing corroded or worn pipework using an elastomer core. The inherent efficiency of the composite means that pipework corroded beyond class society allowances can still be utilised, this aids the sustainable long term operational viability of assets.
The installation of TSG/Pipe Repair with SPS is extremely quick with minimal disruption to the plant as there is no requirement to break the containment of the pipework. Repairs are undertaken by a small specialist team, take a fraction of the man hours required for a conventional repair and at substantially reduced risk and cost.
Allan Syme, Managing Director, TSG Marine commented, “Our focus is on providing value to our customers, through the provision of cost effective, high quality solutions to support asset life extension. This is a pragmatic response to common pipework corrosion problems. We are very excited to bring it to the market and are confident that this in-service repair solution will benefit many rig owners/repairers.”
Ian Nash, SPS Business Manager said, “SPS has a long and innovative history. It has solved problems for marine and offshore asset owners since its inception in the late 1990s. We are proud of the technical solutions we have been able to offer up to the offshore industry – helideck strengthening, impact resistance etc. TSG/Pipe Repair with SPS is the latest solution made possible with SPS.”
Elizabeth Hillier, Principal Engineer, DNV GL commented “DNV GL have completed the technology qualification process with TSG Marine for their pipe repair product. Our function was to provide a systematic approach to ensure that the pipe repair product functions reliably within specified limits. DNV GL believes this innovative product could provide a cost effective solution for the industry.”
