Oxygen Freejumping springs into The O2, the company tackling UK obesity

Oxygen Freejumping, the UK’s largest trampoline park operator, has announced its signing of a lease with AEG and Crosstree Real Estate to open a new 30,000 sq ft trampoline park at The O2 in London.

This is a joint venture and will be located in the company’s new 110,000 sq ft development, and be the 11th park of Oxygen Free Jumping in the UK. This will take the business’s number of parks in the capital to five.

This will be the first park to be located within a leisurely district next to bowling and cinema offerings. In July this year, Oxygen Freejumping acquired Air Space Trampoline in a multi-million pound deal, which was in line with its aim to reach 20 parks by the end of 2018.

The CEO of Oxygen Freejumping, David Stalker, said: “We are delighted to have been secured such a high profile and prestigious location for our next trampoline park. The O2 has been voted the number one global entertainment venue for the last 10 years…

“At Oxygen, we have welcomed 1.5m jumpers through our doors since we opened and provide a fun and safe jumping environment, in line with our mission to support the government’s drive to address UK childhood obesity.

“We look forward to welcoming a new group of jumpers to our new trampoline park at the O2 in the near future.”

The company was founded in 2014 by Fred Turok, founder of LA Fitness, and David Stalker. It has been reported that 29 per cent of people in England are classified as physically inactive and only half of all seven-year-olds are meeting the government’s daily physical activity guidelines. For those over the age of 18, obesity has risen to 60 per cent.

However, Oxygen Freejumping provides an accessible solution to meet these standards, and offers high-intensity and low-impact activities for all. The business has also recently partnered with Bear Grylls offering a programme for fitness enthusiasts.

Alistair Wood, AEG Europe, added: “Trampolining appeals to a broad demographic and will further diversify the leisure mix offered at The O2, to complement the retail offering which will open in 2018.”

The company has achieved Primary Authority Status with a local environmental health agency.
