Increasing number of renters choosing to buy instead in Swindon

Low interest rates and an exciting selection of new properties to choose from is turning a growing number of renters in Swindon into homebuyers.

David Wilson Homes is experiencing high demand at its Tadpole Garden Village development in Swindon - and many of those choosing to put down roots at the development may otherwise have rented their homes.

“We have seen a marked increase in buyer confidence,” said sales director Louise Ware. “Here at Tadpole Garden Village, we’re currently offering a wide selection of impressive three and four bedroom homes to suit a range of lifestyles and budgets. Now is a great time to enter the property market for first time buyers - thanks to a combination of factors which make it cheaper to borrow and easier to move up the property ladder.

“Seeing such confidence from a whole spectrum of buyers is an excellent sign - and it demonstrates that a growing number are finding it easier to put the necessary finances in place for their purchase. Help to Buy is certainly playing a major role in this - and we offer the scheme here at Tadpole Garden Village.”

Help to Buy allows any homebuyer to secure a brand new home under the value of £600,000 with just a five per cent deposit. The government lends the buyer 20 per cent of the value of the property in the form of an interest free equity loan for five years, meaning that buyers then gain access to some of the great mortgage rates currently available with just a 75 per cent mortgage.

“The cost of renting is on the increase - to the extent where many are finding monthly mortgage payments to be lower. So it’s no surprise the homes here are proving so popular among first time buyers,” added Louise.

Current availability at Tadpole Garden Village includes the three bedroom Oakfield, Greenwood and Cannington homes, priced between £290,000 and £315,000, and the four bedroom Parkin and Irving family homes, from £343,000.

Situated to the north of Swindon, Tadpole Garden Village features a range of two, three, four and five bedroom homes, forming part of a thriving new community. The new village has a community centre, retail and convenience facilities, a new primary school, play areas and plenty of open space. Less than six miles away from the M4, the development is ideally located for both families and commuters, with Bristol and Bath nearby.
