North East health tech companies team up to ‘significantly improve’ GP training
Two North East providers of education and IT software for healthcare professionals have teamed up to “significantly improve” the training and appraisal process for GPs.
The new partnership between Boldons-based NB Medical Education and Wallsend firm Clarity Informatics allows GPs to accumulate learning through NB Medical’s educational resources and then instantly export Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits to Clarity’s Appraisal Toolkit (ATK).
NB Medical today provides postgraduate medical education such as training courses, online CPD modules and webcasts to over 30k GPs across the UK and Ireland.
Clarity’s ATK, meanwhile, is used by 76% of GPs in England for recording their learning and storing CPD credits.
NB Medical chief exec Dr Philip Nichols said: “With NB Medical handling the education and Clarity Informatics the appraisal, GPs can now significantly improve the efficiency and ease of accumulating their mandatory annual CPD requirements leading to successful appraisal and revalidation.
“Once they’ve completed the training all the necessary information can be instantly exported into Clarity’s ATK database.”
Clarity Informatics CEO Tim Sewart commented: “GPs already rely on Clarity and NB Medical for their ongoing CPD, so it makes perfect sense for us to work together.
“Bringing together market-leading medical services that complement each other perfectly makes life easier for time-pressed GPs, too.”
The partnership will also see NB Medical’s educational resources made available through Clarity’s new online primary care information-sharing platform, GPTeamNet.
