Flooring retailer invests £150k to launch first Yorkshire store in York
Connection Retail, a North East-headquartered online retailer, has invested £150k to launch its first Yorkshire store in York, which is its sixth opening in the space of a year.
The company has opened a 3,175 sq ft store for its Direct Wood Flooring brand on Layerthorpe, in the city, which has created four new jobs.
Direct Wood Flooring offers a wide range of solid and engineered wood, luxury vinyl tiles and laminate flooring.
The store will also feature a selection of artificial grass from its sister company, Grass Direct.
The launch follows on from the company’s openings in Birtley, Tyne and Wear, Thurrock, Bracknell, Coventry and most recently in Havant.
Dan Foskett, managing director of Connection Retail, said: “Our expansion into Yorkshire now means that we are currently operating in six regions in the UK, while maintaining a strong online presence.
“This is another significant investment, which will support the company’s continued growth as we extend our geographical reach and create further jobs throughout the country.”
Connection Retail, which comprises four retail companies, delivers flooring and outdoor furniture solutions for commercial and domestic markets, including wood flooring, artificial grass, rugs, vinyl, carpets, rattan lounge sets, teak wood dining sets and other outdoor furnishings.
Established in 2012, the company operates its own transport fleet from six distribution centres across the UK.
Connection Retail currently employs in excess of 90 staff, with this figure expected to rise to more than 100 by the close of the year.
Dan added: “We are hoping to build on this positivity with more store openings in the pipeline for the remainder of the year and beyond, and are excited by the potential in the York site.
“It is an exciting chapter in the company’s relatively short history and I am hoping to replicate the success we have enjoyed with our previous launches, by building a thriving store in North Yorkshire and creating employment opportunities in the process.”
