Work is underway on the new automated warehouse in Doncaster.

Logistics company makes investment into new 40,000 sq ft Doncaster site

The Eldred Group, which operates in the storage, distribution, agricultural and e-commerce industry, has announced plans for a major investment in a new automated warehouse in Doncaster.

The logistics company, which already has three sites covering 350,000 sq ft over the Yorkshire region, is building a new 40,000 sq ft space for 7000 pallets in Hexthrope.

Martin Eldred, managing director of Eldred Group, a Logistics Hub UK member, said: “We are pleased to be announcing our further investment in Doncaster following a successful start to 2017.

“We’ve seen our exports into Europe increase by 25% over the last twelve months and thanks to an increase in direct online sales we have seen a real growth in our business.

“Our growth has been rapid and we’ve had to rent warehouse space outside of the area but we are now in a position to build our own additional space and bring this work back into the South Yorkshire economy.”

The Eldred Group has its roots firmly placed in Doncaster, close to road, rail, water and air with the A1 and M18 motorways giving access to major routes and locations in the UK and the port of Hull, Doncaster Sheffield Airport and the Doncaster international rail port on the doorstep.

Martin added: “Our diverse offering is all about making challenges easier for organisations across the globe. We offer storage, distribution, agricultural and e-commerce solutions where we produce bespoke warehousing facilities and storage solutions for manufacturers, importers and exporters throughout the world.

“We are expanding to meet demand and this will benefit the town from which we operate. Our workforce is local and we wherever possible we train and promote from within.”

Logisitics Hub UK (LHUK) is a membership group committed to the development of the Sheffield City Region as one of the UK’s leading logistics, warehousing and distribution sites.

Amy Symon, project manager for LHUK, commented: “We are really pleased to see one of our members investing in the area. It is great to see this level of growth in logistics which is a great testament to the company and to Doncaster as a location for logistics firms.”
