Brightest business stars in line for national award
Six of the brightest stars in British business are set to be honoured at the 35th Women of the Year Awards.
One of the highlights of the economic calendar, the annual awards ceremony has been encouraging women to reach their potential by highlighting the work of great role models for 35 years.
Today, following an extensive evaluation and judging process, a highly competitive 2017 shortlist has been unveiled for Businesswoman of the Year.
Cosmetics entrepreneur Denise Leicester of Ila-spa; PET-Xi Training’s Fleur Sexton; Housing sector expert Ruth Cooke of Midland Heart; NEC Group’s Managing Director Kathryn James; and lawyers Jenny Loynton (Loynton & Co) and Sarah Perry (Wright Hassall), are all in the running to scoop the prestigious award.
This year’s Businesswoman of the Year will be announced at the 35th Women of the Year Luncheon and Awards, which is taking place at the Birmingham Metropole on Friday, October 6.
The winner of 2017’s Woman of Achievement Award – won last year by Hillsborough campaigner Margaret Aspinall CBE – will also be revealed on the day.
Judy Groves, Director of the Women of the Year Awards, said: “The response to the 35th annual awards has been overwhelming, with a record number of nominations resulting in what has to be one of the most competitive shortlists in the event’s history and six finalists who provide fantastic role models for women and girls across the UK.
“The Businesswoman of the Year award highlights and celebrates women’s achievements in business and society, promotes role models and inspires women to reach their potential.” Nicola Elliot, founder and creative director of wellbeing and home fragrance brand, Neom Organics, will be one of the keynote speakers at the celebration and she will be sharing the story behind her successful career and company expansion.
