Corrie Stars Join Businessman To Raise Funds For Toby, Aged Four

A Derby based businessman has pledged his support towards a spectacular celebrity charity ball, which will be held in aid of a little boy who is desperately trying to raise money for antibodies to help fight stage-four Neuroblastoma.

The family of youngster Toby Nye, four, are trying to raise £200,000 to allow him to receive antibodies and other treatment after the original NHS treatment given to him didn’t work as expected.

Local businessman Jason Rowan, managing director of Energy Save heard about the little boys struggle and instantly donated funds towards his treatment, as well as purchasing a table for ten people at the charity ball.

Toby’s Christmas Charity Ball and Auction will take place on November 25 at the Queens Hotel in Leeds, an event that promises a night full of glitz and glam whilst raising money for this very special little boy.

The event will see two members of the cast of Coronation Street make a guest appearance and the organisers have secured some amazing items to auction. These include a trip to New York, a signed Floyd Mayweather glove, a signed film montage of Al Pacino, a Sir Geoff Hurst signed football boot, front row tickets for CATS the musical and tickets to see Alfie Boe and Michael Ball.

Jason said: “After being friends with Toby’s uncle for many years, I heard about his battle with Neuroblastoma and it really hit a chord with me. Anyone who has kids will realise how heart-breaking this can be for a family and for me it was a no brainer to donate money towards this worthy cause.”

On January 6 2017, the day of Toby’s fourth birthday, the family received the devastating news that he had stage-four Neuroblastoma, following a short illness over the Christmas period.

Toby, who has a big brother, Ollie, aged six, and a baby sister, Sienna, aged 11 months, will be admitted to hospital on Wednesday to start his high dose chemotherapy, followed by stem cell transplant the following week. He will be in isolation during this treatment and could potentially be in hospital in isolation for up to three months as it is so intense. During this time only his parents will be allowed to visit him due to the high risk of infection.

Toby’s uncle, Chris Cash, who is organising the black-tie event, said “This event promises to be like no other, with a red carpet reception, drinks on arrival, a three-course meal and an auction which has some amazing items up for grabs.

“I have been overwhelmed by the generosity shown by businesses such as Energy Save. Jason Rowan has been a friend for many years and his amazing gesture means a lot to us as a family.”
