Lake District hotel complex sells for £725k
The owners of a hotel site near Penrith have sold the business for £725k as they prepare to retire.
The hotels team at real estate advisory firm Colliers International sold Troutbeck Hotel and Holiday Cottages for six-figures on behalf of Kenn Elliott and Rowan Mahon, who are stepping down to live in Scotland.
Alan and Nikki Fox, relocating from Swillington in West Yorkshire, are the estate’s new owners.
The Troutbeck Hotel and Holiday Cottages complex comprises seven letting bedrooms, three two-bedroom self-catering holiday cottages and a three-bed owners’ apartment.
It is located on the A66 in Troutbeck, halfway between Lake District visitor hotspots Penrith and Keswick.
The sale was secured by Haydn Spedding, associate director of hotels agency at Colliers’ Manchester office.
Haydn said: “This significant sale of a high turnover Lakeland inn is further evidence of the market for such properties benefiting from the Lake District being awarded World Heritage Site status by Unesco.
“Kenn and Rowan established an excellent reputation at Troutbeck Hotel, complementing the self-catering cottages and high quality en-suite bedrooms with excellent food for which it became particularly well known while Alan and Nikki also bring invaluable experience in the trade.”
