Just Housing Group Launches Interactive Behavioural Insights Workshops

One of the UK’s leading housing and support services businesses – Just Housing Group (JHG) – is delivering a series of unique interactive behavioural insights workshops to enable organisations in social housing to significantly improve their performance, whilst also reducing costs.

The East London based company is pioneering the application of behavioural insights – a tried and tested approach that harnesses what we understand about how people really behave, to enable positive changes in behaviour – to social housing.

Working alongside its leading associates over the past three years, JHG has developed its behavioural insights approach through the implementation of over 20 randomised controlled trials (RCTs). Working across the country these projects have built a robust evidence base in relation to reducing rent arrears, creating greater tenant engagement and promoting channel shift.

Building on this work, the company is hosting a series of ‘Smash Courses’ – one-day interactive workshops – held in various locations across the UK to share its approach, which is widely tested and routinely used by HMRC, DVLA, energy suppliers and the public health sector.

This follows on from JHG delivering the courses directly to leading housing organisations, including Taff Housing, Peabody, Curo, Family Housing, London Borough of Southwark and many others.

The one-day events will be headed up by the consultancy’s Managing Director, Anna O’Halloran and JHG’s Behavioral Insights Special Advisor, Steven Johnson.

Speaking about the course, Anna said: “We are delighted to bring the course to the wider domain, having experienced such a huge appetite and demand from experts in the sector to understand more about behavioural insights and how it can be applied to increase performance, ultimately resulting in a reduction of costs for organisations.

“We know that these sessions work – and have made a significant difference - from delivering them over the past 12 months to leading organisations. As we will now be leading the courses at designated venues, this opens the arena for delegates to meet new people at all levels from different organisations and share ideas.

“From our experience, delegates attend the course to find out how they can improve performance through applying behavioural insights techniques, and they leave with new ideas of how the approach can also be applied to reducing costs, as well as how it can be implemented to influence cultural changes.”

JHG will be delivering its one-day interactive workshops across various locations including Edinburgh, Norwich and Bristol, with more to come. Delegates will leave with a practical understanding of nudge principles and behavioural economics. Tickets for the events will be available to purchase on Just Housing Group’s website.

Established in 2004, Just Housing Group provides services and support in the supply, management and maintenance of social housing. With offices in London the company employs 25 staff.
