Hot yoga studio set to launch in Hull's £6m Kingston House development

East Yorkshire’s first hot yoga studio is set to open in Hull at the £6m K2 development at Kingston House.

Lionheart Hot Yoga Hull has signed a 10-year lease on the eighth floor of the new multi-functional living and workspace complex.

Construction of the yoga facility is already underway, and is set to open in early 2018.

The 330m2 facility will include a dedicated hot yoga studio, capable of reaching 40°C with 40% relative humidity. It will also include a two treatment rooms, alongside on-site shower and changing facilities and a refreshment area offering a range of organic food and drink.

The studio is the first of its kind in East Yorkshire and one of only a handful in the North of England. It will offer a range of Bikram, Yin Yoga and Sports Yoga, as well as Hot Pilates, with classes running seven days a week.

Michelle Shenton, Bikram Yoga teacher and founder of Lionheart, explained: “There’s a thriving yoga community in Hull, but until now, hot yoga practitioners have had to travel to Leeds or Manchester to find a dedicated studio.

“With Lionheart, we are creating one of the country’s finest destination hot yoga centres in Hull, and aim to attract yoga practitioners from across the country.

“It’s great to be part of K2 and we’re delighted that Tradepark shares our vision. The building is fantastic, offering stunning 360° views over the city, in a tranquil, welcoming space that’s perfect for yoga practice.

“Hot yoga delivers so many benefits to both physical and mental wellbeing – and there are yoga classes suitable for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Whether you’re suffering from injuries, loss of mobility, insomnia or stress from work, hot yoga can help.”

The K2 development is already proving popular, with Beverley-based developers Tradepark Ltd signing up businesses from across the region and beyond to pre-let agreements. Prospective tenants include MLS, Target International, The Shaw Trust and Hull City Council.

Mark Butters, director at Tradepark, commented: “K2 is a new concept for Hull, and we want it to be a central hub for business and leisure in a thriving, modern city. Attracting the region’s first hot yoga studio is a fantastic coup – it’s exactly the kind of business we want to bring to K2.

“Leisure and fitness are an important part of the development and, in addition to the yoga studio, we have plans for a fully-equipped gym and a dedicated workout studio. Going forward, we hope to provide dedicated space on the rooftop terrace for al-fresco fitness classes and bootcamps – perfect for the busy working crowd.”
