Trapeze Group launches DAS OnBoard to enhance fleet communication

Leading transport technology provider Trapeze Group has launched a new online portal to enhance driver-office interactions for bus operators.

OnBoard is an extension of Trapeze’s existing Duty Allocation System (DAS), the driver and duty management technology used by bus operators across the country to minimise staff costs and overtime payments, reduce allocation wastage and manage driver payment and holidays.

DAS OnBoard puts the power of DAS into bus drivers’ hands, enabling them to communicate with their traffic office in real-time from virtually any location, via a simple, user-friendly interface. With OnBoard, drivers have a single portal for all interactions, including messaging, viewing of assigned work and late running notifications.

OnBoard also offers drivers the convenience of being able to remotely sign on for work. This has the added benefit of enabling operators to improve the efficiency of schedules and driver shifts by utilising roadside relief points. Crucially, the system protects against failed reliefs by allowing drivers to confirm that they are en route to the relief point, and using mobile device location awareness to validate that they are close to the assigned takeover point.

Commenting on the launch, Trapeze Business Unit Director Janice McPherson said: “By truly embracing mobile sign-on, DAS OnBoard enables transport teams to streamline the entire duty management process, reducing cost while delivering better overall services for passengers, and offering operators far greater control over bus services.

“The ability to proactively address failed reliefs is key: OnBoard enables the traffic office to check a driver’s status while en route to a relief point, so staff can identify reliefs which may experience problems. This offers a window of opportunity in which to deploy spare drivers to avert a failed relief and the many associated consequences.”

As well as its impressive core functionality, DAS OnBoard has been developed as an expandable platform for future development; embracing the vast potential of mobile devices, and growing in accordance with driver interaction requirements.
