Italian restaurant Salvo's has launched a new event for jazz lovers

Award-winning restaurant Salvo’s is set to serve up much more than just food following the launch of a new bi-weekly Jazz night.

The Headingley-based Italian restaurant, which was set up by the Dammone family over 40 years ago, will be showcasing local Jazz talent from around Leeds and wider Yorkshire.

Following two successful soft launches, The Sunday Sessions officially kicked off on the 8th October with the Bob Birch Band taking to the stage.

Starting at 8pm Salvo’s welcomed guests to come along to the free event to enjoy high-quality Italian cuisine and drinks, including wine, cocktails and craft beer whilst enjoying the best Jazz talent in the region.

Having previously ran jazz clubs, co-founder brothers Gip and John Dammone are keen to combine their passion for food and music in the relaxed atmosphere of Salvo’s.

Gip Dammone, Co-Owner of Salvo’s, explained: “[The Sunday Sessions] means we’re able to share a little more of ourselves, with customers who come and visit us here at Salvo’s - our love and passion for food is just the beginning and we want to share it all.

“We ran jazz clubs in the 80s and 90s with live bands and DJs and are lucky to have strong connections with some fantastic musicians on the scene. Inviting those close and fond friends along to The Sunday Sessions is going to make each one special in its own right both for me personally and those lucky enough to make it down and see them perform.”

The Sunday Sessions complements what has already been a big 2017 for Salvo’s with their biggest refurbishment in the venue’s history bringing a new walnut interior and intimate lighting as well as a brand new Italian pizza oven to their open kitchen.

Gip continued: “In order to create something lasting, we know that you must adapt and grow, our refurb has been the exciting next step for us. It has been a great time for us here, welcoming guests, old and new, into our new restaurant to try the new menu and long may that continue. We’re very proud of the new look and love to hear what everyone thinks!”
