COUNTRYSIDE BUILDS FRIENDSHIPS AT HEYFIELDS

One in five houses in Britain are semi-detached*, meaning that 20% of UK house owners share walls, a garden, or even a driveway with their neighbour.

Neighbours Karen (36) and Megan (27) never predicted that they would become such great friends after moving into their adjoining semi-detached, three-bed Ellesmere homes, at Countryside’s Heyfields Walkden development, over the same weekend.

Karen commented: “This is the first home that my partner and I have purchased together and we’re extremely impressed with the specification. Since moving in we’ve become good friends with all eleven houses in our cul-de-sac, which is lovely.

“There’s a real community feel here - we even have a group chat on Whatsapp, which is great because we all help each other out. We also arrange regular group outings, go for meals and we even had a party for the Love Island final!”

Karen moved from a rented flat in Walkden with her partner, Phil (38), before using the Help to Buy scheme to secure their first home.

She added: “Phil works away quite a lot and, with us living in a top floor flat, it could get quite lonely. I’m a social person so not seeing people throughout the day, even just walking past the window, would get me down. Our new neighbours are also very social, so there’s always someone to have a chat with now!”

Megan, who previously rented a flat in Sale with partner Dale (30), said: “The way that the development is designed means that all the houses in our cul-de-sac are facing each other, which makes it feel much more friendly and close-knit.

“Once we’d all moved in, Karen invited us round for a BBQ and we clicked straight away. We share a garden so decided to split the cost of a lawnmower - we’ve even created a rota to split the gardening duties between us. I’ve always wanted neighbours that I could be friends with, so the sociable atmosphere is a huge bonus.”

Both couples used the Government’s Help to Buy scheme, which allowed them to purchase their homes with just a 5% deposit both securing a three-bedroom Ellesmere, which boasts modern, light and spacious living.

James Clark, Regional Sales Director at Countryside, commented: “Here at Countryside, we aim to build places people love and we’re proud of the communities that we’ve helped to create. Our vision for this development has always been to create a vibrant neighbourhood that would see local families thrive and grow within for years to come. It’s great to see that these buyers have formed such strong bonds with their neighbours already and wish Karen and Megan the best of luck in their new homes.”

Each Countryside home comes with the homebuilder’s ‘Spectacular’ specification as standard, which includes integrated appliances and Porcelanosa tiles. For further information on Countryside’s developments throughout the North West visit www.countrysideinspire.co.uk.
