Gentoo announces interim CEO appointment
Gentoo Group, the Sunderland-based housing association, has appointed David Jepson as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Bringing a wealth of experience to Gentoo, David has worked within social housing for almost 30 years, including time spent as Deputy Chief Executive at one of the largest housing associations in the country, The Riverside Group, and as Interim Chief Executive of The Regenda Group.
Keith Loraine OBE, Gentoo Group’s Chairman said: “The Group Board and I are delighted that David will be joining Gentoo as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
“David is joining us at a challenging time, but with his leadership skills and vast experience of governance in both executive and non-executive roles, I’m confident we can continue to make a positive difference, and work towards our vision for the City of Sunderland.
During his time at The Riverside Group, David played a critical role in its success and growth from 16,000 units to the 50,000 plus unit association it is today.
He has led negotiations on private finance initiatives, stock transfers, and a range of regeneration initiatives. Beyond this role, he has also held a number of senior interim positions in the housing sector.
Speaking about his appointment, David Jepson said: “I’m looking forward to getting started. There is a lot of work to do, but having met some of the newly established Group Board and senior team, I’m convinced we can continue to deliver against its business strategy.
“I am particularly inspired by Gentoo’s customer and staff focus. It has achieved so much over the years and this success is something that I want to build upon, especially during such an important time for the Group.”
