Images revealed for huge new ‘riverside destination’ in Liverpool

New images revealed this morning (October 18) show how a huge new scheme could transform part of Liverpool’s historic waterfront.

Around 1,500 jobs could be created in the opening phase of a development planned for Monarch’s Quay, part of King’s Dock.

The Contact Company, a telecoms firm based on the Wirral, is working with landowner Liverpool City Council and developer YPG to deliver a new Grade-A office complex on the site.

Now, Liverpool architect Falconer Chester Hall has created images to show what the scheme could look like, subject to planning consent.

The city council’s wider vision for Monarch’s Quay is to deliver a major mixed-use development comprising leisure, commercial and retail space on the city’s waterfront.

Further phases of the development could include hospitality and leisure elements such as a 2,000-seat ice rink, hotel, apartments, restaurants, bars and shops, along with a new car park.

A Winter Garden, 10-pin bowling attraction and virtual reality leisure centre are also being considered.

The Contact Company would expect to launch its new office by the end of 2018. Standing at four storeys high, the building would provide 45,000 sq ft of office space.

Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool, said: “The Kings Dock is the final piece of the jigsaw in our vision for this part of the waterfront.

“This transformation will help link the existing waterfront assets with the Baltic Triangle and significantly boost employment in the city.”
