Wine merchant to establish Northern flagship in Alderley Edge
Wine merchant Laithwaite’s Wine is opening a new site in Alderley Edge, Cheshire.
Located on South Street in the heart of the village, the 2,165 sq ft store will be divided into retail and event space.
Laithwaite’s said the shop element will stock more than 400 wines, beers and spirits, while the event area will be hired out for private functions and feature a fully fitted catering kitchen.
The store, serving as the company’s Northern flagship, will be the 14th in its UK-wide network.
Laithwaite’s Wine retail director, Helen McEvoy, said: “We know we have a strong and loyal customer base in this area, having hosted events in Manchester for a decade and from delivering mail order wines to thousands of customers in the Cheshire golden triangle.
“Our new store will offer our loyal customer base the chance to expand their Laithwaite’s experience, from offering them the opportunity to try new wines free of charge, to fulfilling their orders via a free click and collect service and most excitingly, offering them a range of events to attend in our new event space.”
The retail development team at real estate firm Colliers International secured the premises for Laithwaite’s.
Colliers associate director Tom Glynn, who advised on the deal, commented: “We are continuing the see the ‘clicks to bricks’ trend in the retail sector whereby successful online businesses are making the transition to physical retail space, and Laithwaite’s is a prime example of a business that is doing just that.”
Hallams Property Consultants represented the landlord of the South Street unit.
