Novarum expands USA reach with appointment of new business development manager

As part of its ongoing expansion plans, leading smartphone diagnostic specialist Novarum DX® has appointed a new business development manager for the Americas.

Robert Trinka, who has more than 25 years’ experience across the defence, healthcare and manufacturing sectors, has joined the Novarum team as the business progresses with its ambitious plans for growth.

Based out of Weston, Connecticut, Robert will enable Novarum to develop a firm base in America, as well as helping the company to connect with and support new and existing customers across the region.

Robert said: “mHealth is a sector that is experiencing rapid growth and it’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Novarum. There are so many viable and promising applications for Novarum’s patented image-capture technology and I look forward to sharing Novarum’s capabilities with businesses in the Americas and watching the business flourish.

“Being based in America offers companies the chance to tap into and explore an incredibly diverse economy. This opens up a huge range of opportunities for a business like Novarum and I’m looking forward to working with their team of experts as we strengthen the company’s presence in this vibrant marketplace.”

Dr Neil Polwart, Novarum Founder and BBI Group® Head of Mobile, said: “Robert is incredibly experienced and future-focused and we’re delighted to have him on-board. Alongside his outstanding career working with leading brands in key sectors, he has a real depth of experience and genuine enthusiasm for emerging technologies. He plays a key role in developing and mentoring people exploring new tech - including mentoring at the Yale School of Medicine’s Medical Hackathons and sitting on the Steering Group of Tech Meetup, which gives him invaluable market perspective.

“We see great opportunity in the Americas, which is driven partly by a global shift in market awareness about the potential of disruptive mobile technology and look forward to exploring the huge opportunities in this exciting market.”

Novarum’s innovative solution allow users to read and share results of diagnostic tests using a smartphone. Its technology enables users to connect with healthcare professionals as part of a mobile eco-system.

Its smartphone reader technology facilitates the reading and sharing of diagnostic test results with multiple applications across the medical, food safety, veterinary and aviation industries, with no extra hardware, and at a low total cost of ownership. The company’s smartphone readers enable tests to be accurately read on-site, in remote and challenging environments, with the results shared securely with healthcare professionals or specific end-users.

Novarum’s mobile medical apps are used by some of the diagnostic industry’s biggest players and Novarum also works with smaller, more nimble specialists to develop new approaches to target and treat infectious disease, toxicology and auto-immune disease.

Headquartered in Edinburgh, UK, the company’s revenue increased by 78 per cent during the 2015/16 financial year and the business is on course to continue this strong growth trajectory over the next 12 months.

Following the acquisition from BBI Group in October 2016, Novarum now has access to diagnostics knowledge and expertise over 450 strong. The acquisition has enabled both companies to support a wider range of customers by bringing the benefits of smartphone reader connectivity, accuracy and convenience to the marketplace.
