Launch event celebrates the opening of third business for Yorkshire entrepreneur

A tasty launch event has marked the official opening of a Yorkshire entrepreneur’s third business, The Joiner’s Shop coffee bar and kitchen.

David Beattie, who owns North Yorkshire-based Rounton Coffee and Middlesbrough-based Bedford St Coffee House, celebrated the launch of The Joiner’s Shop, with members of the local community.

Guests’ taste buds were taken on an adventure around the world in a unique evening breakfast experience, which included samples of the coffee bar’s speciality coffees and teas.

The Joiner’s Shop team, affectionately known as ‘The Joiner’s Shop Crew’, also gave attendees the opportunity to participate in a crash course in latte art, before competing in a friendly competition.

Speaking about the event, David said: “It was a great success! It was fantastic for so many people to join us to celebrate our launch.

“Everyone had a brilliant time learning about our products through tea and coffee tastings and our latte art contest brought out guests’ competitive natures.”

Already being recognised for its menu, the modern-day coffee shop, which is situated in the idyllic village of Ingleby Cross, has been shortlisted for Breakfast of the Year in the 2017 Flavours of Herriot Country Awards.

The business proudly serves locally sourced produce from sustainable, independent suppliers, and a seasonal menu.

David said: “We want The Joiner’s Shop to be recognised as one of the top places to go for breakfast and brunch in Yorkshire, and I know we can achieve this goal.

“We are proud to offer a dynamic and innovative menu, complemented with expertly crafted drinks and excellent service.”

The coffee bar and kitchen is hoping to recruit an ambitious young chef, as a kitchen assistant, as well as other talented individuals who have a passion for food and drink to join the expert team already in place.

A driven entrepreneur, David is already thinking about the next steps to further develop the business.

He said: “As we move into the darker nights, we will be looking to introduce supper clubs and we’ll be searching for guest chefs to showcase their culinary skills.”
