Birmingham Logistics Operator Drives Recruitment in the Midlands

A Minworth based logistics operator is gearing up to exhibit at its first ever recruitment event to expand its team as a result of unprecedented business growth over the past 12 months.

Europa Worldwide Group’s Birmingham branch, based at Prologis Park, is the company’s second largest site, employing 130 people in its 16,000 sq ft warehouse. It is also the only Europa site to accommodate branches of all of the company’s Road, Warehouse, Air, Sea and Showfreight divisions.

The team will be attending the Jobs Fair at Birmingham’s Council House in the city centre on 27th October as part of a wider recruitment drive across the company’s 11 UK sites. The innovative scheme sets to facilitate business expansion, support existing accounts and ensure Europa achieves its ambition to become the leading logistics operator between the UK and Europe by 2018 by securing top industry talent.

Exhibiting alongside other top companies such as Tesco, HSBC, Virgin, Vauxhall and Apple, Europa’s specialist internal recruitment and acquisition team will be on the lookout for rising stars of the logistics industry to boost its Warehouse, Sea and Road operations in the Midlands. This follows a period of multiple new business wins for all of its divisions based at Birmingham.

Mark Chopping, Internal Search and Talent Acquisition Manager at Europa, said: “We’re thrilled to be heading up the search for new talent in the Midlands for Europa. Our Birmingham branch has a brilliant work environment and its sales department is booming. Our Sea division, which is based at Birmingham, has a number of new customers, so we need to support this growth by building the team by 50 per cent and with Christmas around the corner, our Warehouse will also need additional staff. The Jobs Fair will provide us with the perfect opportunity to seek out the top candidates for these positions in the Midlands.”

Vanita Dass-Puri, also an Internal Search and Talent Acquisition Manager, commented: “As the UK’s second city, Birmingham is one of our most important targets for recruiting experienced warehouse, office and sales staff as well as attracting new rising stars in the industry”.

“Our values are the foundations for the way we work, to help our operation run efficiently and safely, with brilliant service that our customers can trust. We work hard to create a relaxed and friendly environment and are looking for candidates who fit into our culture of positive working with family spirit. I’m looking forward to meeting these potential new staff members and getting the Europa name out there next week!”

Across all 11 sites, the Europa team has grown by over 150 employees in just three years. The business has opened two brand new sites in Nottingham and Wakefield since 2014 and relocated its teams in Manchester, Glasgow, Nottingham and Dartford to new, larger premises to facilitate this continual growth.

HR and Facilities Director at Europa, Carl Potter, said: “It’s our ambition to become the leading logistics operators between the UK and Europe by 2018 and in order to do this, we need to build our team and grow our knowledge-base.”

“Birmingham is a key site for us, as it is home to one of our largest warehouses, as well as road and sea teams, so this event is a brilliant opportunity to expand our footprint in the Midlands. Mark and Vanita are great additions to the Europa team and I look forward to welcoming the new staff members we recruit at the fair.”

Europa Worldwide Group offers specialist road, air, sea and warehouse services, employing more than 600 staff across 11 sites in the UK and Hong Kong.
