Jobs created as Biker Group opens new depot following growth period
North Yorkshire-based Biker Group has undergone an expansion with the opening of a new depot on Dalton Industrial Estate, near Thirsk.
The new 1.5-acre depot has created four new jobs at Biker Group.
The family owned Leyburn-based company provides a diverse range of services to the construction industry, including haulage, ground works, bespoke joinery, construction, waste management and recycling.
The new depot will enable Biker Group to expand its Volumix Concrete service, develop its concrete products range and grow all other areas of the business.
The expansion comes after a period of growth for Biker Group, which was established nearly 50 years ago by company chairman Tony Biker who has been joined by sons Matthew, Ben and Sam. Sam will manage the Dalton operation.
Expansion over the last four years has seen the company increase its workforce to 172 and a 133% increase in annual turnover.
Ben Biker, managing director, said: “The new Dalton depot will initially enable us to focus on the concrete division, but also allow us to develop every area of the business.
“We are executing a five-year plan to grow the business and, as the business grows, we need to move further afield to support this and the new depot has excellent transport links to the A1 and the A19.
“Each department across the business has experienced significant growth over the last four years and we have been rewarded for delivering high quality, professional services as a lot of the growth is down to repeat business from clients.
“On top of the 65 jobs directly created during the last four years and many more through carefully vetted sub-contractors, the opening of the new depot will create another three or four jobs with the prospect of more.”
The new site will enable Biker Group to expand its Volumix Concrete division, which specialises in the supply and delivery of fresh ready mix concrete across the North East and Yorkshire.
