Optimizely Launches Program Management - First to Scale Experimentation Programs to Deliver Company Wide Business ROI

Optimizely unveiled its new suite of capabilities that will enable enterprises to more effectively plan, organize, manage and report on their experimentation programs. The industry’s first integrated Program Management solution will allow customers to operationalize experimentation across their entire organization and across the entire experimentation lifecycle.

According to Forrester’s May 2017 report, Drive Unified Digital Customer Experiences With Better Technology Strategies, “great digital customer experience requires the support of both C-level executives and the company culture, but over a third of digital experience professionals told us that their success is inhibited by a lack of executive sponsorship, and nearly half say siloed processes are a major pain point.” This makes it critical for organizations to be able to collaborate and scale faster to gain competitive advantage.

“We are seeing large enterprises creating increasingly mature cross-functional experimentation teams as they scale. Today’s enterprise-scale experimentation programs require new solutions and Optimizely is providing a way for organizations to manage their experimentation efforts, directly measure the business impact and drive faster digital innovation,” said Jay Larson, Optimizely’s CEO. “Based on feedback from our customers, we are introducing new Program Management features to improve the process of generating hypotheses, prioritizing test ideas, and collaborating across teams. These new capabilities will also give companies tools for reporting on their overall programs, making it easier to share learnings, govern widespread teams and demonstrate ROI across their entire organization.”

Designed to enhance the efficiency of coordinating, collaborating and measuring experimentation programs across the enterprise, the new features were engineered and integrated following Optimizely’s acquisition of Experiment Engine in April 2017. Customers will benefit from even more success throughout the entire process of experimentation, from hypothesis and experiment prioritization all the way through to a program-level view of measurement and analysis.

“At HP, we are building an experimentation program with the goal of increasing our pace of innovation and putting customer data at the heart of every decision we make,” said Herriot Stobo, Director of Omnichannel Innovation & Solutions at HP. “As we scale Optimizely to more teams in our organization, we see the need for more coordination and oversight. We are excited about these new Program Management capabilities as they will help us collaborate and track the performance our efforts more effectively across our entire experimentation program.”

The new capabilities, which allow reporting across all teams and departments while enabling them to scale their experimentation programs, include:

  • Teams: With new capabilities designed for experimentation teams, customers will be able to manage the entire process of designing and creating an experiment from hypothesis through analysis. Program management makes ideation and prioritization more accessible and transparent. By bringing transparency and process together, program managers will also improve knowledge sharing and visibility for complex experimentation programs. These new capabilities will help teams collaborate more effectively, streamlining processes that previously were done manually or in disparate tools.

  • Program Reporting: Companies can now gain powerful insights into the performance of their experimentation programs. Key features include insights for tracking the velocity of an entire experimentation program, understanding how those experiments are performing across projects and teams, discovering new insights, and iterating more rapidly on the best ideas. Reporting the speed and quality of experimentation across teams has previously been a largely manual process, so the new capabilities simplify and enhance the accuracy of program measurement.
