Container company answers SOS from Preston Sea Cadets

A Preston youth organisation has been buoyed by the donation of three secure storage containers while building work takes place at its headquarters.

Mobile Mini, a leading hirer of secure storage containers and portable site accommodation has come to the rescue of Preston Sea Cadets which faced losing essential equipment as its existing building was deemed unsafe for use.

The Company has provided three secure storage units as its current base, a timber-framed, former World War One hospital, is being demolished.

Upon hearing of the predicament facing the detachment, Mobile Mini contacted the Chairman of Preston Sea Cadets, Steve Hills, to see if they could help. As part of its Community Involvement Programme, which supports non-profit or voluntary organisations, the containers were hired free of charge for the first six months.

Steve said: “The containers are an essential part of our plan to clear and move away from the old building, a process resulting in the loss of storage areas for uniforms and the array of training equipment required for our activities.”

The containers have been supplied with shelving and lighting to suit the needs of the Sea Cadets. The unit will be used to store anything from outward bounds equipment, to canoes and even sailing boats.

“Having the units means the equipment used for education and training remains onsite, ensuring the group’s survival.

“The support of Mobile Mini has been invaluable, allowing us to focus on the task in hand and not on the cost,” added Steve.

Once the move is completed, Preston Sea Cadets will have a specially designed centre in which it can continue to provide academic and vocational training to young people aged 10 to 18.

Clint Thomas, Liverpool branch manager for Mobile Mini, said: It’s brilliant to be able to support the Preston Sea Cadets and ensure that the great work the organisation does for young people can continue.“
