New at home care service for Shropshire
The expansion of a leading at home care service into Shropshire has brought new options for older people wishing to live independently in their own homes and delivered a jobs boost for the county.
Care Plus is part of Housing Plus Group which also includes Severnside Housing and Severn Homes. When the group came together in October 2016, one of the promises made to the people of Shropshire was that successful home care service would be made available to local residents. Care Plus at home officially launched in Shropshire on the first anniversary of the new group.
Care Plus at home provides care and support ranging from washing and dressing to cooking, shopping and even walking the dog. Its carers have been recognised as being among the best in the country by the judges of a string of national awards.
The distinctive bright pink Care Plus car and matching uniforms of its carers quickly became a familiar sight in and around Shrewsbury as the group prepared to launch the new service.
The expansion has provided employment opportunities in the area, with recruitment currently underway for additional care staff.
Les Clarke is director of care and support.
“The difference made by our carers can be immense. Their support enables people to return home after hospital treatment and helps them cope with personal crises such as bereavement. The carers work with those living with dementia, relieve loneliness and encourage people at risk of isolation to connect with their community. I believe that the residents of Shropshire deserve the best possible care and support in their own homes and I’m delighted to make the service available in the county.”
