North Shields training provider becomes fully accredited by CISRS

Scaffolders in the North East can now receive all training in one place following AIS Training accreditation from the Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme (CISRS).

The North Shields-based training provider, which delivers specialist training for the offshore oil & gas, wind energy and industrial sectors, will now run the CISRS Advanced Inspector and CISRS Supervisor courses.

The addition of the new courses will strengthen AIS Training’s existing scaffolding portfolio, which currently offers training from a basic level to apprenticeships and NVQs from their facility near Newcastle.

Paul Attrill, head of training and education at AIS Training, said: “We are delighted to receive this approval from CISRS, which adds the final piece of the puzzle to complete our scaffolding training portfolio.”

News of the courses will be a welcome boost to the construction sector in the North East, as there are currently no other scaffolding training centres across the region.

Paul added: “Recent reports show that the construction sector is suffering huge skills shortages with scaffolding cited as a key area. Our scaffolding centre is tackling these shortages by providing high quality, industry approved training from basic through to the highest levels.”

AIS Training has invested up to £1m in its scaffolding training provision over the past 12 months, resulting in a facility that can now deliver every course needed by those working in the scaffolding and access platform industries.

Trevor Donoghue, CISRS accreditation auditor, said: “AIS Training has developed a fantastic facility for scaffolding skills here in the North East. The centre is now accredited to deliver the full suite of CISRS scaffolding courses from basic through to advanced qualifications and inspections.

“This is a fantastic asset for local companies where they can get all the training they need to keep their teams safe and competent.”
