Construction work to reach new 'Heights' at Bradford housing development

Work has commenced on the construction of 66 new affordable homes in Heaton, Bradford, with work set to complete in August 2018.

The two and three bedroom family homes, with off-street parking, have been designed by Brewster Bye Architects and are being constructed by Strategic Team Group.

Strategic Team Group is developing the Chellow Heights site on behalf of Home Group, one of the UK’s largest providers of housing and supported housing services, and will make 28 of the homes available by March 2018.

Mark Henderson, director at Brewster Bye Architects, said: “Detailed and careful consideration was given to the layout of Chellow Heights so that the development not only respects the site and its surroundings, but also creates a high quality development ideal for families.

“With soft landscaping and tree planting to enhance and increase biodiversity, Chellow Heights will become an attractive and sustainable development of new homes which will complement and match the context and style of buildings locally in this area of Bradford.”

The 1.41 hectare site, which is close to Lynfield Drive, will be reached by a new access road off Hathaway Avenue. Situated just over two miles North West of Bradford city centre, the site benefits from being close to a number of bus routes and Metro train station.

Will Gardner, Home Group’s director of development, commented: “This is an opportunity to work with key partners to deliver new affordable housing within Yorkshire, to help address the shortage, and contribute to our ambitious plans to build 10,000 new homes by 2021.

“This is the second of three phases in the regeneration scheme, having completed 58 homes on the adjacent site earlier last year.

“Home Group has a long term investment in the local community ensuring all our properties and associated communal areas are well managed throughout the lifetime of the development.”

Andrew Watson from Strategic Team Group concluded: “We are delighted to lead yet another Land Led Scheme for Home Group as part of our long-standing working partnership, involving valuable contributions from our Framework Architect, Brewster Bye Architects.

“This development will deliver much needed affordable homes and help to continue supporting the ongoing regeneration of the local area. The homes are all modern and energy efficient and we are confident they will be well received by the local market.”
