Construction of ‘key growth driver’ scheme in south Cheshire gets underway
A ground-breaking ceremony has marked the start of construction efforts at Cheshire Green Industrial Park.
The development, located six miles from Crewe and 15 from Chester, spans 150-acres and has outline planning consent for 1.35 million sq ft of industrial space.
Work on Cheshire Green will also include construction of a roundabout off the A51 to provide improved motorway access.
The ground-breaking ceremony followed £3.2m in funding, announced earlier this year, from the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
Phillip Posnett, director of Cheshire Green Industrial Park, said: “There has been a huge amount of collaboration between the public and private sector in helping the creation of Cheshire Green and I would like to thank all those involved who have enabled us to reach this point.
“With construction now underway, we are looking to bring forward the next phases of development, which will include land sales and the opportunity to construct buildings from 10,000 sq ft upwards.”
Antoinette Sandbach, MP for Eddisbury, commented: “Cheshire Green is a significant development which will greatly benefit the South Cheshire region.
“Any project which helps to keep young people rooted in Cheshire and gives them the opportunity to grow must be welcomed and we look forward to seeing how the scheme develops.”
Skills & Growth Company chairman Cllr George Hayes said: “Our Business Engagement and Inward Investment team have been instrumental in providing advice and assistance in identifying suitable finance to fund the infrastructure requirements for the Cheshire Green site.
“This development will become a key growth driver for our thriving rural economy and is great news for Cheshire East.”
