8,000 jobs to be created as trio of new buildings at White City Place Gateway site receive approval

Hammersmith & Fulham Council (LBHF) has given the green light for the development of three new buildings on the 17-acre Gateway site at White City Place.

The three buildings will provide 1,110,809 sq ft of accommodation and together will create some 8,000 new jobs in White City.

The building on the Gateway East site will be 21 storeys and will front to the newly created Arrival Square and Wood Lane. The building will provide 607,763 sq ft of employment space on the upper floors and the ground floor will provide 20 947 sq ft of complementary retail and restaurant floor space.

The building on the Gateway Central site will provide 360,000 sq ft of employment floor space with cafes and restaurants at ground level and will vary in height from four to 12 storeys.

The final building on the Gateway West site will be a low-rise three and four storey employment building of 30,000 sq ft.

Stanhope has partnered with co-working space Huckletree to deliver a workspace and community engagement hub in one of the new buildings. The facility will be a permanent location for an accelerator incubator, and an events and workshop programmes for startups and SMEs based in West London.

The new co-working space will provide a minimum of 180 desks. Up to 50 memberships will be free of charge for a period of six months to eligible startups. All the remaining desks will be offered to business and residents at a discount of 25% of the market rent of Huckletree’s existing co-working space in the MediaWorks building.

Parents with young children will also have full access to the community breakout and events space between 9.00 and 13.00 Monday to Friday, free of charge. For all three categories, the eligibility criteria will be developed and agreed jointly between Huckletree, Stanhope and LBHF.

The new Gateway development will include public realm improvements which will link with the landscaping works underway at White City Place including North Avenue with new trees, raised gardens, lawns and the creation of a Central Square.

The three Gateway buildings will be in addition to the six existing buildings at White City Place.
