Systal Recognised by ScottishPower for Helping to Deliver Record Investment Plans
ScottishPower has named Systal Technology Solutions as their Corporate support & IT supplier of the year, at a special event in the energy company’s new HQ in Glasgow.
Systal is an innovative technology solutions provider that delivers tailored solutions to meet business aspirations, and has worked with ScottishPower for over eight years. The company helped to ensure that 45 tonnes of IT infrastructure located in ScottishPower’s Cathcart office, which ran and supported many of the key ScottishPower business applications, was migrated to the new St Vincent Street HQ. This had to be achieved over a fixed period of time to ensure a smooth transition.
At the awards evening on the 9th October ScottishPower revealed they have placed around £5 billion worth of contracts in the last two years as part of its largest ever investment phase, supporting more than 80,000 jobs across the company’s supply chain. Around 55% of the £5 billion has been spent with UK companies, with contracts placed with more than 3,500 suppliers.
Douglas Cumming at Systal said: “We are absolutely delighted that our work with ScottishPower has been recognised with this award. It is a great achievement for everyone here at Systal, and reinforces the fact that we are part of the ScottishPower Community, and working as a virtual part of SystemsUK. Our relationship with ScottishPower is hugely valuable to us, and we aim to work with them in a true open and trusted partnership. We very much look forward to continuing this partnership long into the future”
Keith Anderson, ScottishPower’s Chief Corporate Officer, said: “To deliver some of our most ambitious projects ever, we are working with a wide range of specialist companies, and supporting tens of thousands of jobs. Systal helped to deliver a critical project against a tight deadline to ensure our IT systems could be transferred successfully to our new HQ, which builds on a partnership that goes back many years.
“It has been a year of uncertainty politically in the UK, with choppy waters still to be navigated in the years ahead. However, if the Government continues to provide stable regulation and presses ahead with the ambitious clean energy and industrial strategy policies, then companies like ScottishPower will continue to invest billions of pounds and support quality jobs.”
ScottishPower gave out 16 special recognition awards in total to recognise the companies and workers who have been helping to deliver the variety of upgrades and improvements across the UK.
