An all-new flagship store selling 'iconic' footwear is opening at Seven Dials
Shaftesbury has today (November 13) announced that German sandal maker, Birkenstock, is opening its UK flagship store at 48 Neal Street this year.
It is the most recent addition to Seven Dials, following Japanese skincare brand, shiro, which opened a 961 sq ft West End flagship store located on Monmouth Street earlier this month.
Covering a total of 1,100 sq ft split over ground and basement floor levels, this will be Birkenstock’s first brand-owned flagship store in the UK. It will stock the brand’s collection of sandals for men, women and children and be the only Birkenstock store in the capital.
Sam Bain-Mollison, head of retail at Shaftesbury, said: “We are delighted to announce that both Birkenstock and shiro have chosen to invest in Seven Dials, creating two new flagship stores.
“The fully-branded Birkenstock store will have the largest range of products in the capital. We are also thrilled to welcome shiro, [adding] another international brand to our offer.
“Together with Fresh, Le Labo and Kiehls, they form part of a growing beauty offer that is set to expand with another exciting retailer to be announced in the coming weeks.”
Birkenstock is a sixth-generation family-run business with roots that can be traced back to 1774. The brands footwear features carefully selected materials from sustainable sources such as 100 per cent natural and renewable cork that is found in the footbed of each shoe.
Japanese beauty brand, shiro, has now opened its current West End flagship at 63 Monmouth Street, set across the ground floor and basement levels.
Mr Takahiro Fukunaga, of shiro, added: “Seven Dials is an iconic destination home to many international boutique brands.
“We felt that the line-up of complementary retailers and position in the heart of London made it the ideal place to launch our store as part of our expansion into the UK market.”
Seven Dials is home to over 150 shops, including international flagships and concept stores, renowned beauty and grooming shops as well as over 50 cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs.
Shackleton acted on behalf of Shaftesbury in both deals. JLL represented Birkenstock, and Cushman and Wakefield acted for shiro.
