Speedy celebrates biggest ever Expo event

Speedy, the UK’s leading provider of tools, equipment and plant hire services, is celebrating the success of its biggest ever annual Expo event held in Liverpool.

The largest private hire show in the UK, the Expo welcomed over 1,500 delegates including Speedy employees, customers and key suppliers from companies such as Skyjack, Pramac, Hilti and JCB.

The two-day event brought the industry together to showcase product innovations, health and safety initiatives, share knowledge and network.

130 of Speedy’s key suppliers were on stand to display their latest innovative products and improve delegate’s product knowledge, while gaining a better understanding of Speedy’s customer’s needs and current market dynamics.

The Expo featured a Star Product initiative, where delegates cast their votes for their favourite products on show via a new exhibitor app and interactive kiosks located around the venue.

The Expo also featured a Supplier Awards gala dinner, attended by many of Speedy’s key customers and suppliers. Prolectric won the coveted Innovation Award for their Prolight Mobile Solar Lighting Tower due to the product’s strong environmental credentials and economic proposition.

Among the other award winners this year were Recycling Lives, who took home the Environmental Award for their waste management services, which directly sustain a programme of charitable activities in the local community.

2017 has been a significant year for the company as it celebrates its 40th anniversary in business, with the theme celebrated throughout the Expo and Supplier Awards dinner. Ford of Britain, who won the Special Relationship Award for supplying vehicles to Speedy across its 40 years in business, exhibited a 1977 transit van alongside its Speedy branded 2017 model. The brand new transit features award winning safety technology, with which Speedy won the Van Fleet of the Year Award at the Motor Transport Awards earlier this year.

Speedy first opened its doors in 1977 in Wigan and has since grown to become the UK’s largest and safest hire provider, with a network of over 200 depots across the UK and Ireland.

Russell Down, Chief Executive of Speedy said:

“This year’s Speedy Expo was our most successful event to date, giving us a great opportunity to continue to build relationships by spending time with our clients and suppliers.

Bringing the industry together each year in this way provides us with an invaluable source of feedback and data, helping us to optimise asset investment by reflecting market trends.

There was a feeling of positivity and optimism on the show floor this year and an air of confidence for the industry’s outlook over the next 12 months.

We would like to thank all of the delegates who attended the Expo and look forward to welcoming them back again in 2018.“
