Going strong! Help to Buy scheme provides boost for local homebuyers

With recent figures showing Help to Buy Equity loans across the region remain at high levels, Barratt Homes reveals the scheme is still going strong at its Ashmeade Park development in Pontefract, with more than 40% of new homes being purchased through Help to Buy.

Furthermore, there is only one home left to sell at Ashmeade Park before Christmas, with 27 new build properties having been snapped up by local buyers in previous months, demonstrating the popularity of the quality range available at this development. Ashmeade Park is also the first site in the Barratt Homes Yorkshire West division to have the new Barratt 2016 range.

These new figures show that Help to Buy is performing exceedingly well in the Wakefield Metropolitan District, with a total of 1,812 Help to Buy equity loans being taken out since its launch in April 2013. 85% of these equity loans are to first time buyers, highlighting the popularity of the scheme in the region for those aiming to take their first step onto the property ladder.

The Help to Buy equity loan scheme allows a homebuyer to secure a brand new home up to the value of £600,000 with only a 5% deposit and is set to continue until 2021. The government lends the buyer 20% of the value of the property in the form of an interest free equity loan for five years. This then means buyers can access some of the great deals available for a 75% mortgage, making new homes much more affordable.

Ideally located close to Pontefract’s historic town centre and within easy reach of Pontefract Monkhill railway station, the A1 and M62, providing easy connections to Wakefield, Leeds and Doncaster, Ashmeade Park offers a collection of stylish two, three and four bedroom homes perfect for professionals and growing families alike. Housetypes at the development are comprised of Barratt Homes’ new range, maximising natural light throughout the space and exuding modern character.

Now available to view, the sought after Ennerdale housetype is a three bedroom detached home featuring a delightful open-plan kitchen with dining space. Downstairs, a light and airy lounge offers French doors that lead out to the rear garden and a ground floor cloakroom. The first floor boasts two double bedrooms with an en suite shower room to the master bedroom, one single bedroom and a family bathroom.

Emma Fitton-Cook, Sales Manager at Ashmeade Park, said: “It is great to see that the Help to Buy scheme is so successful, not only at Ashmeade Park, but across Pontefract and Wakefield. It is encouraging that so many first time buyers are able to get onto the property ladder through the Help to Buy equity loans and we hope we continue to see more take advantage of this great scheme, and the quality homes available across the region.”
